Paul started getting involved backstage back in 1990 with Shepshed Youth Dance, he designed and built a couple of sets including "War of the Worlds" and "Mack and Mabel", at the Hind Leys Community College Theatre. Then in 1998, he was asked by Jim Sheilds, of Twist and Shout, to be involved backstage with "How to Suceed". This was the first time the "Crew in Black" team were brought together. Soon after that he joined the ESNA Players and got involved in the scratch building of scenery, starting with "Chess", then "Sweeney Todd", "Barnum", "Oliver", "Mack and Mabel", "Follies", "Crazy for You", "West Side Story", "Return to the Forbidden Planet", "Anything Goes", "Oklahoma" and "My Fair Lady". He has also been involved with other local groups, with shows such as "Annie Get Your Gun", "Brigadoon", "Chorus Line", "Barnum" and many many more. Also working for the Loughborough Town Hall Paul has worked backstage for professional acts such as "Phil Cool", "Paul Daniels", "Britney Spears" (OK, so it wasn't the real Britney Spears), and was heavily involved in the construction of the "Hansel and Gretel" set.
